Let’s Dive Into the Top 10 Hottest IT Roles of 2023!

1. Cloud Architect

Growth Rate: 12.4%
Average Salary: $164,000

A Cloud Architect is the mastermind behind the design and implementation of cloud systems, ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency.

2. Data Scientist

Growth Rate: 11.5%
Average Salary: $163,000

Data Scientists are the detectives of the business world, uncovering patterns and insights from vast amounts of data.

3. DevOps Engineer

Growth Rate: 10.8%
Average Salary: $161,000

A DevOps Engineer bridges the gap between software development and operations, ensuring rapid and reliable software delivery.  They work with Microsoft Azure, AWS, or other similar cloud platforms to help Developers get their code deployed out to the various pieces of the Cloud infrastructure.

4. Software Engineer

Growth Rate: 9.6%
Average Salary: $146,000

Software Engineers are the builders of the digital world, crafting applications that millions rely on every day.  These are the builders.  This is the bread and butter of what we build here in our course at StartupHakk.  So if you, or anyone you know want to start an awesome career, this is actually where most of the things in this list start, and then move on to other things like DevOps, Data Science, Cloud Architects, and the other roles I am going to explain.

5. Cybersecurity Analyst

Growth Rate: 9.4%
Average Salary: $145,000

Cybersecurity Analysts are the digital guardians, safeguarding organizations from cyber threats.  These are the good guys who hunt and build up defenses for the bad guys.

6. Web Developer

Growth Rate: 9.2%
Average Salary: $144,000

Web Developers breathe life into the internet, creating the websites and platforms we visit daily.  So, some might argue this is interchangeable with Software Engineer nowadays.  Frankly, I can’t think of anything you would build that wouldn’t have some aspect of the web in it.  These might be more front-end, user-interface centric … and maybe they split a Software Engineer as more of the backend.  But this is the bread and butter of what we build here in our course at StartupHakk.  So if you, or anyone you know want to start an awesome career, this is actually where most of the things in this list start, and then move on to other things like DevOps, Data Science, Cloud Architects, and the other roles I am going to explain.

7. Database Administrator

Growth Rate: 9%
Average Salary: $143,000

Database Administrators are the custodians of data, ensuring its integrity, availability, and performance.  We also teach database principles and how to get started with Database in StartupHakk’s coding bootcamp.  But some go on just specialize in this.

8. Network Admin

We don’t teach that in our courses, so I am going to skip that one for now.

9. Business Analyst

Growth Rate: 8.6%
Average Salary: $141,000

Business Analysts bridge business goals with IT capabilities, ensuring technology serves organizational needs.  So we actually get some business folks that want to break into being a BA or get into a product that wants to learn enough about what Software Developers do that they take the course to learn enough about coding to understand it – even if they aren’t going to fully put it into practice.  So we get BAs that take the course as well.

10. IT Manager

Growth Rate: 8.4%
Average Salary: $140,000

IT Managers lead tech departments, ensuring alignment between IT resources and business strategies.  Particularly, there is always a need for Software Development Managers.  These are almost always developers who are ready to move to the dark side and work to manage developers.  I know the Dev Managers I have had that have been great developers then almost always make the best managers, because they *get* it.

So that is it!  Pretty awesome that 9 of the top 10 from this list are things you can work to become all just from starting the StartupHakk coding bootcamp.
